Yes. I was pessimistic and I was just as open about it as I am about seeing this work. I don’t care about getting Boosted. If I do, great, if I don’t, I still write. Remember that I spent 7 years on Medium not making a single cent from stories (by choice!) and I still publish free stories occasionally. Your accusations are misplaced I’m afraid. The numbers speak for themselves. Even without Boost, a story can make good money. But you see, the difference is that what I think is good money, others call pennies (someone was complaining that they "only" make $15/day 🤦‍♂️), hence the frustration. I write because I like writing and I am passionate about the stuff I write about. Perhaps I get occasionally Boosted because all of that shows through my writing. Do you think I am undeserving of being appreciated?

The bottom line is that even as a pessimist I ended up seeing the value of human curation, especially in the age of AI. That makes my view of the platform even more powerful rather than proving whatever point you’re trying to make.

P.S.
No sudden spikes in traffic btw and income-wise there are ups and downs just as before. The average views per month are 60K. Read ratios around 60%. I just write, man. In fact, 50% less than I used to, as I am focusing on my novel.

P.S. 2

I also write occasionally on LogRocket that pays 10x the average of what I would normally see on Medium, and yet I still find myself writing 99% of my stuff on Medium (500+ articles vs 2). What does that tell you? I stick to my earlier point. This platform has value and big names are on it. Being in that company is valuable to me. I only criticise when I fear that decisions might result in the platform going belly-up (the way Boost was presented at first many months ago was far from what it is in practice, so my pessimism was justified), because I want it to stay alive and thrive. This is where my LEGO stories found a home, this is where my musings on tech and software engineering have a big audience. So yes, even if the MPP would stop being a thing, I'd still be writing here just like I did until late 2021.
