Yes, I think I mention in the article when it started slowly appearing. Stars Wars and Harry Potter started out with yellow heads, then moved to mostly white around 2004. Maybe my definition of "recent" isn't as widely accepted. I see it as anything in the past 20 years of LEGO history (given that it's 90 years old).
I also take your point about perspectives. I would however challenge some of what others claim that "yellow always meant white". I tried finding literature about that but nothing turned up. I'd argue that yellow heads were considered white because the toymakers were caucasian. What I'm struggling to convey is that perhaps there was unnecessary finger-pointing when there were no racial discrimination intentions on LEGO's part.
Finally, there is something that nobody seems to consider, that Red, Blue and Yellow are the primary colours out of which all other colours are made. I would be very surprised if that would be just a coincidence when the exact same three colours are used for the classic minifig.
Finally, I am struggling to get why some people are so hell-bent on wanting toys to represent the real world. Dunno. Maybe it's just me, but I want it as far away from the real world as possible.
