Yes, 16GB for Blender work is fine. The only reason I didn't suggest it was because if you also get 512 GB SSD, then you're just about $200 away from a 14" M1 Pro. Which maybe getting refurbished could also be a great option for the same money or perhaps a little less even than the M2 Air with higher specs. It really does come down to how portable you need that machine to be.
