When it comes to React itself, that’s true, and it’s one of my biggest beefs with the developers of React. Creating hybrids like these should be an absolute no-no. However, when picking up hooks for the first time, I did get curious about FP outside of React, so I went ahead as the article suggests, and looked into it a lot more, even in the context of other languages, and I found it exponentially more difficult to grasp than OOP. I unfortunately cannot go back in time and see if as a noob I would have reacted to FP differently, but that would still highlight that it’s not a paradigm conversation, but how our brains are predisposed to picking stuff up. Another good example is how a lot of people struggle with CSS. I for one don’t understand why, but for them it’s a real pain and I have seen many pivot to back-end development because of it. As they stated: CSS doesn’t make any sense.
