Thank you for bringing another voice of sanity into a messed up software engineering world. When I first saw hooks my head went sideways like a questioning dog's. Then I started using hooks, and I started grinding my teeth. Been using hooks for a good three years now and I still hate them. I only use them because if I don't, I'll get a lot of angry code-reviews, but I felt from the get-go that they were a terrible idea.
