So, I'm back after having watched the movie last night. You know what? I loved it and wished movies were a bit more like that compared to the lifeless nonsense we often we get today. Some of the aspects you mention perhaps didn't age well, and that's fine, the same will happen to whatever we do today. I do think though that it wasn't as bad as it might seem to some. The message was clear even back then that women aren't just for cooking and cleaning, that love and partnership is important in a marriage, that abducting women is not the right way to find love and that perseverance can lead to positive results. With a hint of great choreography and some really nice tunes, I think it's a great movie and ultimately agree with your star rating, or in numbers an 8/10.
