Respect doesn’t quite work like that though. An author doesn’t demand it. An author asks for it. The reader then has three choices. To respect the work (read), not to respect the work (do nothing), or disrespect the work (summarize). When you meet someone new, do you spit on them, or do you say hi? You don’t respect them yet, sure, but you don’t disrespect them either. 😉 So it’s not binary.
