Perhaps the question is, why does one feel they require a bar of soap? I, for one, don't. People unfortunately are brought up to learn a list of profane words that must be avoided. Children are regularly punished for saying bad words, some are beaten, all because, why exactly, when we all grow up and still use and even enjoy the same words that got us grounded or spanked as kids? Where's the logic in that? Isn't that hypocritical? I argue that even in writing, profanity can enhance the message if used well. That's where the art is, in using it well.
