Not sure who that mole is but they're wrong. I stumble upon so many great articles that are not behind the paywall. About 20% of my stories aren't behind the paywall either, and I periodically add to that list even from stories that used to be behind the paywall. For a number of years I refused to go behind the paywall, though I was even one of the writers who was invited to join the partner program in the very early days. There is a bubble of writers who are money-first, and I have no problem with that as long as they provide great stories for us to read, but saying that most writers are about the money is just wrong and misrepresentative of many writers here.
