Masochistic AI — A Recipe For Global Disaster
Are we living in an era when Hollywood understands tech better than everyone else?
Without taking any side in the race for an AI-driven world, there is something truly mind-boggling happening in front of our eyes. While I don’t think we can draw any conclusions just yet, much of the world does seem to have already drawn not one, but two major conclusions. What’s incredibly odd, is that both are drawn by the very same humans, yet not many of us seem to do much to prevent steering the planet’s future into the wrong direction.
On the one hand, you have the AI zealots who seem to outnumber by far those with a more rational approach to tech in general, while on the other, you have the film industry, or let’s just call it Hollywood for brevity, who have been creating for decades movies about humanity’s, the planet’s demise due to tech and AI. Somehow, we’ve ended up in this masochistic infinite loop where, we humans, very passionately, downright religiously create technology that is ultimately meant to destroy us.
