jQuery still has plenty of place in the world. Simple websites still benefit a lot from jQuery as opposed to npm packages, React or whatever else. Sure, they can also be written with vanilla JS, and that's even better, but often those who rely on jQuery, do so because they're working on a legacy project, they're juniors or just do part-time coding on small projects.
