I’ve read a lot of jumped-the-gun comments too, this is definitely up there. You somehow missed two crucial aspects in the article:
- I said 90% don’t need it, which leaves 10% who do.
- Bill gates didn't build an app. He built an OS. I hoped my readers can make the difference between an app and an OS. Sadly, not the case…
But sure, look, if you want three monitors to build an app when the stats clearly show you most likely don’t need three, then do so and the rest of us who do care about the environment and our future will try and breath a bit less while you do that. I’m sure the world will be just fine accommodating your wasteful coding habits.
P.S. I would also be careful taking Bill Gates as an example to follow. As every software engineer knows “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should”.
