It feels like that, but it’s not like that. I am part of the invite only official Medium Slack group and the conversations there have already revealed plenty to prove that the constant changes are an effort to make happier writers and bring in more readers. There is constant change because tech and users always change, but also because the balance between running a company and keeping writers happy, is not static. I keep reminding folks that Medium in the grand scheme of things, is a tiny company. It punches way above its weight. Writers should not confuse it with giants like YouTube.

Finally, it’s worth remembering that many users don’t end up signing up for Medium through a referral link, so in that case, more than 2 bucks get split between reads.
