Me. Me. Me. Apple should listen to me. Apple should take care of my needs. Because I’m a customer and customers need what I want. That’s what I heard when CNET walked all over Apple’s latest releases. That’s what I heard when many of the established tech reviewers expressed their views on YouTube, and that’s what I hear when people make every incomprehensible assumption about Apple’s business model, Apple’s line of products, many of whom will — in the same breath — gladly fork over 100K on a Cybertruck, will defend every Elon Musk move, would never consider public transportation or walking to the store instead of getting into their SUVs and trucks. The hypocrisy of Apple-bashing has gotten just as bad, if not worse, than the alleged hypocrisy of Apple itself.

Assumptions and expectations

The quip “When you assume, you make an ass out of u and me.” made famous by the 1973 television sitcom “The Odd Couple” stands just as true in 2024. Countless Apple pundits and critics sit on every rumour for years, months and weeks speculating what Apple is going to release next, expecting and assuming the next #AppleGate is just around the corner.
