I would not say that TS is the correct way to learn JS. JS is a fantastic language. The problem is, some people cannot get used to its looseness and therefore they turn to TS. That is their prerogative but JS is a 27 year old language that gets better every day and still backwards compatible and runs everywhere without any extra setup. That in itself speaks volumes.
