I will admit that your use-case is not uncommon, however there a lot of people who are very conscientious about turning their electronics off every day. Then there is also the case where this Mac - because of its tiny size - will get mounted to the back of screens. Finally you have the ones using them in racks. Not having access to the power button is going to be a pain. I don’t think there was any genuine reason to place the power button on the bottom.
