I think it’s a bad move, but regardless, what I think will not make a difference. The reason I believe having real names on the site is wrong is security and racism/xenophobia. Many have mentioned stalking as a real possibility and yes, I agree with them — and that’s a security issue.

But on the other hand I also believe it reduces my chances of finding a match on the site just because my name is Attila (“foreigner taking our women and jobs”) but I live and work in Ireland. So all the Johns, Cillians and Kens will have a higher chance of meeting someone than I, because believe it or not, people do judge other people based on how familiar their names sound. Most of them won’t admit publicly, but conduct a test, and you’ll find out how the human brain works when it comes to names.
