I honestly think you’re overthinking it and reading between the lines something that isn’t there. Not saying it never is, but more often than not, it isn’t. Most people just don’t think deep enough for that. I think that someone who is happy to let the woman pay and then reimburse their 50%, is also evolved enough not to care what society thinks. As we all know, society is mostly dumb and judgmental, so being bothered by it would only mean lowering one’s self to their level.
