I Hired A Dating Agency For A Year. Was It Worth It?

It’s certainly an avenue, but is it the right avenue, and what should you expect?

Possibly, my longest experiment ever. Don’t misunderstand me, I never treated it as one, as my intentions were always very clear and in no way unlike any other person’s, who decides to hire a dating agency. Nevertheless, the aspect of wanting to understand how dating agencies work from the customer standpoint, and whether they are more or maybe less viable alternatives to online dating, is just as true. This was something I always wanted to understand.

Does the famous Hitch actually exist, is there any science behind matchmaking, or is it nothing more than a well-marketed “analogue” variant of the myriad apps single people like myself use, to find love and companionship?

I spent roughly one year as the customer of a fairly well-known Irish matchmaking agency. The name is not relevant, nor are the names of the ladies I have been introduced to. The goal was singular: allow myself to take a step back from driving my dating life, and leave it up to the professionals — the people with tall stacks of folders, full of people looking…
