I get where you're coming from, but it makes the comparison unfair and can hurt a platform that is attempting to become just as profitable for you as a writer as Medium is right now. There's an aspect of investment here that needs to be taken into account. Look at many of the really famous YouTubers. A ton of them started out back when there wasn't even monetisation and they just filmed themselves with crappy cameras doing stuff. They kept doing that, and that kept the platform growing. Investing into a young platform creates a better chance for that platform to give you high returns in the long run, say in 5 years. But you gotta stick with it.
