I don't think the "work longer" is something we should or want to let be the new norm. It's unhealthy, and unhealthy people will make bad decisions which will result in slower recovery and even more work. I think people and companies need to maybe finally learn how to manage time better, and focus on what really matters. I find that working from home made me more productive. I only go to meeting and create them when it's required. I make a point of taking walks, meeting folks outside after work or during lunch. Whoever came up with the idea that recession = more work, clearly doesn't know how to work efficiently and doesn't have their priorities straight.
