I don’t think it’s OK to vilify it though. Since humans existed, we always looked for high ROI activities. Human and technological evolution is literally about that. Most of our jobs are far easier than they used to be 300 years ago. Working hard is not noble. Working hard is what the old “arbait macht frei” slogan reused by the Nazi empire praised too. This requires a very-very nuanced conversation.
