I am surprised there aren't like a million claps and comments on this. This is a fantastic article, and it mirrors my thoughts to the letter. It puts things into a realistic perspective, because it's easy to get enthusiastic about a technology and forget to assume there is a cost somewhere. There always is. It's more about where does one want that cost to be than anything else.

I particularly liked the part that focuses on app architecture. Mitigating the impact of using Firebase can be done very well when one places their firebase calls outside the UI, into an interface, service, bridge - call whatever you want it - file.
