I am one of those weirdos who doesn't use shortcuts, so never had the issues you're having. I used to be a Chrome user, but as soon as I moved over to the M1 architecture in November 2020, I moved to Safari for browsing and also web development. Can't say I miss Chrome and it's rare that I fire it up and when I do, it's only to test web stuff for cross-browser compatibility.
