How long have you been on Medium? I've been here for 10+ years. This is the biggest mistake most writers make - they "toil" on Medium as if it were a platform for making money. It's not, and it was never meant to be. It just happens to pay some money for good writing. It boggles the mind how this seems to be so difficult to understand.
