Good question. If I understand correctly, your existing personal 13" model is an M1 machine. If that's the case, yes, no problem, the M1 Pro is essentially the same except it's faster and more capable. Connected via cable, testing with real hardware should work fine, I did not run into issues. Based on my experience I think getting the M1 Pro should be no problem for you.
