For a bit of context, in Eastern Europe, "Nothing Compares to You" is what introduced her to us and frankly 99% of the population would only know of that song. For us, she really was just "the bald lady with the funny name" who sang that gorgeous song, everything else was either unknown or felt very remote, too remote to care. Naturally, many of us associate her death with the first moment we "met" her. That may not stand true for everyone though, especially not in the West.
