I can 100% confirm that writing less is more. Don’t get me wrong, I still have tons of ideas I could write about, and have over 100 drafts waiting to be developed at any time, but I choose to filter them down to just 4-6 stories every month. Interestingly going down from 20+ stories to just 4-6 hasn’t affected earnings negatively at all. If anything, my yearly average might actually look better by the end of 2024.

I will make one additional note to what you said in the article. I always felt that Medium was the place for high quality content. For me, regardless of algorithms and platform pivots, or myths that used to be true, what always worked and felt being rewarded for as a writer was high quality stories. That’s what kept me here as a reader and that’s what keeps me writing here as well.
