Don't sweat it too much. Been a guest-writer on numerous publications for years, and I am an editor in two. What I noticed is that while some say they want drafts, you can actually publish before you even submit to the publication, and they'll accept it anyway, if it's decently formatted and not too general or short. Unfortunately I did notice some writer-editors having a conflict of interest and rejecting articles because they write about the same thing, and want to avoid competition. I stopped offering my articles in those publications. Also, being part of a publication may or may not help. I have plenty articles in publications with a large number of followers and still get very little attention. Seen the opposite as well. So, don't overthink it. Write, publish, if publications take it on, fine, if not, also fine. 😊
