Blame the language. In Hungarian for instance there is a word for men, women and for genderless version as well, which is what people use. The closest translation would be “human” but it doesn’t entirely fit in English. Same goes for Romanian, there is a genderless word for it. No wonder there’s so much finger-pointing in English speaking countries. The downside of an easy lingua franca I guess…
