As stated in the article, I did go beyond just React when looking into FP. I spent time with it from a pure JS perspective and also with Scala. React (as stated in the article) was what introduced me to it. Can't say it made any more sense regardless of language. But you're missing the point really. Both FP and OOP fans try their best to "explain" why the other camp doesn't understand the paradigm. I get that it comes from a perhaps a good place, but it's like explaining a dog how to be a cat and vice-versa while completely dismissing the psychological aspect.
