As someone who travels a bit, lived in 5 countries and has 3 citizenships, I find that cultural appropriation is more often a western problem and often imaginary too. Most people I met from other countries don’t find it to be cultural appropriation when someone outside their community adopts something of theirs. In fact, many celebrate it or even sell it. The conversation needs to be far more nuanced than those pointing the finger at cultural appropriation think.
