As a devil's advocate myself, I'll say your theories do hold some water. I will also say though that as a planet, Russia, China and US included, we need to stop fighting. It's absolutely doable and one of the ways to achieve that is by countries becoming more self-sufficient and start becoming more creative around the use of energy and many other resources.
